Araxá learns its group for the 2026 Minas Gerais Second Division opener

06/04/26

Ganso will compete in Group B of the state tournament, which starts in September with 12 clubs chasing promotion.

Araxá Esporte Clube now knows the first step of its 2026 Minas Gerais Second Division campaign. The groups were defined during the technical council held by the Minas Gerais Football Federation, with Ganso set to represent the Alto Paranaíba and Triângulo Mineiro regions in the tournament. The competition is scheduled to begin on September 19 and will feature 12 teams. In the opening stage, the clubs will be split into two groups of six, playing a single round against opponents from the same group. The top three teams from each group will move on to the next phase. Araxá will play in Group B alongside Betim, Funorte, Paracatu, São João del-Rei and Siderúrgica. Group A will include Inter de Minas, Novo Esporte, Venda Nova, Nacional de Muriaé, Nova Lavras and Santarritense. During the qualifying stage, Ganso will play five matches, two at home and three away. The full fixture list, including dates, times and venues, is expected to be released by the Minas Gerais Football Federation in the coming weeks. The state championship is another step in the club's comeback project. Beyond the push for promotion, the tournament will also create room to develop under-23 players and strengthen the sporting base of the club's new black-and-white chapter.
